W Origine
Origine corkscrew made in oak barrel (wooden finish) with single box
REF: LW02005
Grands crus I once aged, grands crus I shall open!
Origine is the only sommelier corkscrew whose handle is cut from oak barrels once used to age great wines. Each handle is shaped in Thiers by our craftsmen from the finest wood of barrels from renowned estates: a piece of wine history, held in the hand at the moment of opening. Beneath this wood lies the LIGNE W sommelier mechanism: a brushed stainless steel body, a double lever (two successive resting points on the neck of the bottle, so the cork comes out without forcing), a Teflon-coated worm (the spiral that enters the cork, coated to slide in without tearing it) and a serrated foil cutter. Three handle finishes are offered: wood, wine-coloured or old barrel. The corkscrew comes in a kraft cardboard gift box closed with a wax-sealed label. The « old barrel » selection keeps the wood from the oldest barrels, those with the most pronounced patina and wine marks. Within the W collection, Origine is the sommelier corkscrew defined by its material. Where W Signature offers an oval handle in thirteen woods and horns, presented in a magnetic wooden box and designed with one of the Grand Cru châteaux of Bordeaux, Origine offers a single wood, the oak wine barrel, in a kraft box sealed with wax. Both share the same LIGNE W mechanism (double lever, brushed body, Teflon worm, serrated foil cutter) and the same dimensions. L'Essentiel, the entry sommelier corkscrew from LIGNE W, keeps this mechanism on a soft TPR handle, with no natural material. Compared with a Château LAGUIOLE®, the difference lies in the construction: Origine has no forged bee, no bolsters (the metal pieces at the ends of the handle) and no guilloché spring (engraved with decorative patterns); it is a contemporary service tool, more accessible, whose argument is the material rather than the ornament. LIGNE W was founded in 2008 by Sébastien Lézier; its sommelier corkscrews, noted for their design and their double lever, are made in Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme, France). Since late 2017 the brand has also led Château LAGUIOLE®, created in 1993 by the sommelier Guy Vialis, and both have lived since 2021 under the umbrella brand Maison Château LAGUIOLE. The oak wine barrel is the guiding thread of LIGNE W: reusing this wood gives a second life to a symbol of French wine heritage. Origine appears in the house catalogue with a 2-year warranty.

Handcrafted in France — Each LIGNE W is crafted in our workshop near Thiers, France, with exceptional expertise and a rigorous artisanal process.
Handle in oak barrel wood, cut from the stave of a cask used to age wine, with the colour and markings of that individual barrel.
This handle is cut from the stave of an oak barrel that was used to age wine. The wood keeps the marks of that life, so colour, toasting marks and wine impregnation differ from one barrel to the next, and therefore from one knife to the next.
Caring for this material
Wipe the handle by hand with a soft cloth. Never soak it and never put it in the dishwasher: oak is porous, it swells when immersed and then splits as it dries. If the surface turns dull, apply a drop of neutral food grade oil, leave it a few minutes and wipe off the excess.

How to proceed?
- Scan the QR code on the back of the member card included in the box.
- Register your product by following the instructions on the dedicated page.
- Hand wash only: the sommelier corkscrew is not dishwasher safe. Do not immerse or soak it.
- After service, wipe the body, the worm and the handle with a soft, dry cloth.
- Mechanism: if the double lever becomes stiff, a drop of food-grade mineral oil on the pivots is enough.
- Store the corkscrew dry, away from humidity and direct light.
- Old reclaimed wood: wipe dry after use, never immerse; the patina is part of the piece, do not try to sand it away.
To ensure the longevity, performance and elegance of your sommelier knife, please follow these care instructions:
- Hand wash only: this product is not dishwasher safe. Prolonged contact with water may damage materials and reduce durability. After each use, gently wipe your knife with a soft cloth. Do not immerse or soak in water.
- Protect from heat and moisture: avoid exposing your knife to intense heat, excessive humidity or harsh chemicals.
- Handle with care: protect the handle and mechanisms from impacts and drops, which could damage the blade or structure.
- Mechanism maintenance: if you notice slight resistance in the mechanism, apply a few drops of food-grade mineral oil to the moving parts. Professionals should lubricate every 2 weeks.
- Proper storage: after use, store your knife in a dry place, away from moisture, to preserve its performance and quality.
- What is the difference between W Origine and W Signature?
- The same LIGNE W mechanism (double lever, brushed body, Teflon worm) and the same dimensions, but a different handle: W Signature offers an oval handle in thirteen woods and horns, in a magnetic wooden box, with a 5-year warranty; Origine offers only the oak wine barrel, in a kraft box sealed with wax, with a 2-year warranty.
- What are the three handle finishes?
- Wood (LW02005): the natural tone of the oak. Wine-coloured (LW02003): a deep red tone. Old barrel (LW02004): wood from older barrels, with a more pronounced patina.
- Is it dishwasher safe?
- No. Neither the oak barrel handle nor the mechanism tolerates immersion or the dishwasher: wiping with a dry cloth after use is enough.
- Will my corkscrew look exactly like the photo?
- The handle is cut from reclaimed wood: tone and grain vary from one piece to the next.
- Can it be engraved?
- Origine is listed as customisable in our catalogue and the product page offers the « Personalise » option.
- What is the warranty?
- Two years, covering material and manufacturing defects in normal use. The lifetime warranty does not apply to LIGNE W: it is granted to Château LAGUIOLE® knives registered with the Privilege Member Program, through the QR code on the member card included in their gift box.
